TAG Summer Internship Program

The Technical Association of Georgia sponsors a High School Senior Summer Internship Program. The program is part of TAG’s Education Collaborative which seeks to strengthen Georgia’s future workforce. During summer 2009, the Nanotechnology Research Center (NRC) hosted two high school student interns: Kathy Kwon from Kennesaw Mountain High School and Rachel Ford from Hillgrove High School (both Cobb County schools). The students spent six weeks at the NRC. The objective of their internship was to introduce the world of nanotechnology through the optimization and production of thin films utilizing Atomic Layer Deposition, and to create a library of recipes NRC users can successfully and reliably employ in the advancement of their research. The students were required to present weekly status updates regarding their progress, in which they were able to receive feedback about their work as well as guidance regarding the direction they should take towards their overall goal.
